PRESS RELEASE: NON-PROFIT HOBS RECEIVES MAJOR DONATION OF $100,000

Non-Profit Organization HOBS (Helping Our Brothers & Sisters) Receives Major Donation of $100,000 From RISE Dispensaries To Build Wellness-Center

Las Vegas, Nevada & Washington, DC – Helping Our Brothers & Sisters (HOBS) is excited to announce that on Saturday, March 19, 2022, it received a donation of $100,000 from RISE Dispensaries, a retailer of Green Thumb, a passionate cannabis-company which holds itself to the highest standard in the industry, and strives to provide communities with “health, happiness and comfort” through safe, quality products. This is the second donation made by RISE Dispensaries and will be used to build a pioneering wellness-center for homeless veterans.

HOBS is a superb 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works diligently with military-veterans who struggle with homelessness, trauma, survival, as well as physical and mental pain following their active-duty service to the United States. HOBS functions ethically and transparently with its donors and the US Department of Veterans Affairs to provide a program that is genuine, efficient, and accommodating to those veterans who, despite the resources available, have been conditioned to feel rejected or trapped inside the iron-cage of bureaucracy, leaving them homeless and vulnerable.

This new contribution from RISE Dispensaries will be used to construct a pioneering wellness- center and streamline the foundational services of HOBS. The center will focus on improving the quality of life for veterans with an emphasis on treating the source of their suffering rather than only the symptoms. Once there, selected veterans will find a proper setting in a tranquil and pastoral environment in which to achieve their personal goals in mental and physical health and to prepare for their own future success. The therapeutic benefits of walking in nature, learning a new language, enjoying the company of a warm community, having access to proper amenities, having quality medical and dental care, having access to clean water and fresh food, and simply sleeping on a soft bed under a roof are all elements that HOBS plans to facilitate for veterans who desire to pull themselves out of the deepest poverty and misery.

“We are grateful for the continued support of RISE Dispensaries & Green Thumb as we continue to work with our partners on programs to address the underlying causes of homelessness and unfortunate quality of life for military veterans living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and their accompanying challenges. Thankfully we have found success with some individuals where other approaches of

the past have not worked. We work in some exceptionally challenging situations, and it is with the support of our community-partners that we continue to see success,” said Dr. Carter, a US Marine Corps veteran, founder of HOBS, and a POW torture-survivor. Christopher Yates, a US Army veteran, and combat-trauma survivor of the War on Terror, completely understands the mental and physical torment that many veterans face after their service and sacrifice. “When I was introduced to HOBS, I was a lost soul. The HOBS family has been my support through every obstacle that I have faced since being medically retired from the Army. I suffer from a TBI that causes seizures along with PTSD that for years was debilitating for me. The HOBS group became my family and were an intricate part of my everyday life. I was guided in the right direction and shown love that has been the ingredient for my success. After years of self-medicating, I was able to find the root of my problems and get treatment for them. I have gotten my seizures under control and have returned to work. I now have a beautiful family and a bright future ahead of me. Without Marvin and the HOBS family I simply wouldn’t be here nor would my beautiful twin boys. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!” said Yates, who is now thriving in Alaska.
